Captain Joachim Zacharias Duncker was leader of the famous Finnish Savolax Brigade. Born in 1774, he saw action in both Gustaf III’s war against the Russians in 1788-1790 and in the battles waged in Finland in 1808. He was fatally wounded at the battle in Hörnefors in 1809 while defending a bridge.
