In many ways, Bygdeå found itself at the centre of the 1808-1809 Finnish War. Both Russian and Swedish soldiers were active here, and local supplies were quickly consumed. The Uppland Regiment was also deployed to Bygdeå in August 1809 as part of the last attempt by the Swedes to defeat the invading Russian army.
