Lövånger Church Town twice played host to soldiers during the 1808-1809 war; first to the Swedes and then to the Russians. The armies came to Lövånger because of its fertile, cultivated fields and because of its military storehouse. Storehouses dictated the movements of the armies. In truth, it was access to food that ultimately determined the outcome of the entire war.
